In a collab with Jenny Robinson Print Studio, Mitch from JTA has spent years sourcing high quality tools from some of the best manufacturers in the world, and has picked the brains of highly regarded woodworkers both in Australia and Japan. In this session, he will strive to distill and share those learnings with you. We encourage you to bring along your carving tools, roll up your sleeves and get stuck into a bit of sharpening!
The class will cover:
- Desirable geometries for carving tool
- Techniques for heavy material removal and coarse sharpening
- Options for fine honing and polishing of your edges.
The aim of this workshop is to give you the confidence to sharpen your tools correctly and regularly, allowing you more free expression in your work and a happier time when carving out blocks.
