Hori Hori - Japanese Stainless Steel Weeding Knife

$48.00

Description

Hori Hori - Nisaku Original  Namibagata Japanese Stainless Steel Weeding Knife. The genius progeny of a trowel, knife and saw, the Hori Hori (rough literal translation: dig-dig, though it is called by many names) is one of the most versatile and useful gardening tools you've never used.

Given its bladed sides and silhouette, this tool generally falls into the category of being a "gardening knife", though this simple term doesn't do it justice. One side of the blade is sharpened and can be used for any outdoor task that would normally have you reaching for a knife - slicing small weeds, cutting twine and the odd bit of harvesting, for example.

However, the second side is heavily serrated and allows the knife to act as a saw when tougher roots are encountered. The point allows the gardener to loosen tough soils and clay.

As well as this, the Hori's 18.5cm blade is scalloped, giving it the shape of a trowel. This allows it to be used as an excavating tool while planting seedlings, and the dual centimetres/inches increments on it's reverse allow easy judgement of the depth of holes when planting seeds and seedlings, or for easy spacing of plants.

This lovely little tool has been made with longevity in mind, with a comfortable wooden handle and stainless steel blade. We recommend wiping down with a light oil or saw cleaner after use for maximum life. The edge can be honed with a whetstone or diamond file.

Dimensions:
Overall length: 32cm
Blade length: 18.5cm
Blade width: 4cm

Ships with vinyl sheath, including retention clip and belt loop.

Hori Hori knife

Wonderful tool to use, have used in hard ground, soft soil and sand and it cuts through everything so well without dulling the blade, very happy with the product!

Fantastic

My wife loves her hori-hori. At first we reluctant buyers thinking it was just sharp trough. Nope it's a 100 times better. It goes into the soil easily. It's sharp. It's strong. Just so handy

I Love my Hori Hori

I absolutely love this little tool, I can't believe how easy it is to use, I effortlessly remove weeds, roots and all even from ground that is on the dry side, it slides in like it's butter! I have a couple of wicking beds so the measurements are fabulous, I know exactly how deep I am going so no holes in the geotextile fabric! this tool is brilliant I wouldn't live without it, highly recommend!

Amazing Quality of Thick Stainless Steel

This such a great, hefty hori hori. Unlike thinner ones that I have seen, the quality is second to none. I’d not hesitate to get a replacement and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about getting it.
