Shapton Professional Sharpening Stone - #12000

$163.00

Description

The Shapton Professional #12,000 waterstone is a super-fine waterstone that gives an excellent edge and will polish hard steels, especially the high carbon edges of Japanese tools and knives. It is capable of bringing up a mirror finsih and will leave all edges wonderfully sharp.

As with the rest of the Shapton Professional range, the #12,000 is manufactured to maintain flatness for a relatively long time. For best results, we recommend regular light flattening of the stone with either a diamond plate or sandpaper on glass.

The extra step to finish on the #12,000 over either the #5,000 or #8,000 Professional stones, though a small investment in time, will yield phenomenaly sharp bevels. Sharpeners who have carried good geometry through the lower grits will be rewarded with excellent edges on any tool or knife.

The finishing touch

A beautiful stone which I use after my 6000 grit water stone to give a mirror finish to my blades. The low friction of a polished blade improves it's cutting ability.
