Most of my career I’ve worked as a precision engineer so am used to using fine measuring tools. Before buying these squares I checked them using an engineering surface plate and reference square and this set passed with flying colours. They are so accurate.
I’ve used them on my first job and the precision these tools have brought to my marking out is better than any other woodworking square I’ve used in the last 50 years. They are equal to the precision engineers squares I’ve used before and I’d be happy to use them in both fields.
The concave head blade is easy to hold and the markings are easy to read. Just perfect for my old eyes. An added feature is a scale on one side that’s multiplied by the square root of 2. This is strange in western carpentry but is used by traditional temple carpenters for marking out a square tenon on top of a round column. Go into the shop for an explanation on these traditional Japanese scales.
All in all a high quality set of squares.
