These Japanese Wooden Nails can be used for joining timber together in place of metal fastenings. They can be used on rebates and lap joints, they can also be used for decorative contrasts in different coloured timbers. Perfect for making musical Instruments and for Luthier as the timber nails will not affect the resonance of the instrument. The wooden nails are also ideal for restoring old furniture.
Each tapered drill bit is perfectly matched to a particular sized wooden nail, this allows the surface area of the hole and nail to be completely and perfectly in contact. The small tolerance of this contact allows a great amount of pressure to be applied to the job.

Was just using them today again.
These are great, I find myself using the small ones more and more for all sorts of things, even put some in the wall today to hang my goggles and ear muffs on so they aren't taking up valuable bench space. I use them as alignment pins for jigs on the table saw or to stop things moving around on the sanding bench (small bench dogs), also in a box drawer I'm making, using them up through the drawer bottom to secure drawer dividers in a knife box. I like to drill a small pilot hole first to help save the tapered drill from going blunt as fast and gives it something to follow, use the drill on a slow setting to avoid burning or over heating the cutting edge..
Great product
Fast delivery from Australia and great product which I use on my wood working pieces.
Little Beauties
I have used the medium sized nails on a couple of projects and have been very impressed. The first project involved an making a large number of delicate Huon pine boxes. The wooden nails not only reinforced the joints in each corner but due to their tapered profile also negated the time consuming process of clamping up each box as the adhesive cures as they lock into place as they are gently tapped until secure due to their tapered profile. The corresponding drill bits are accurately machined to match the different sizes and tapers the of nails and with their sharp point are easy to position in the correct place similar to a dowelling bit. The timber used to make the nails is hard but not to the point of being difficult to work. The protruding part of the nail can be cut off with a flush cut saw and the remainder pared flush with a sharp chisel.
Good Service but Slow Stock Replenishment
Always helpful and prompt when contacting JTA but they needed to get stock from Japan for my needs and it took a loooong time.
Beautiful little nails
These Japanese wooden nails add a nice detail as well as securing simple joints
