Fine, focused and with a wicked edge, the Stiletto chisel by Kamiwaza is a single steel tool, hand forged forged entirely from High Speed Steel (HSS).
They are the perfect for heavy use on the gnarliest, driest and most unforgiving of Australian hardwoods. The HSS edge is intended for tough timbers, all packaged in a traditionally hand forged and unmistakably Japanese chisel.
The use of incredibly tough HSS through the entire blade of the tool means that it can be made with an extremely fine cross section - hence the stiletto moniker.
As these chisels grow wider, their cross-sectional height diminishes.
This 10 piece set features 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 24mm, 30mm, 36mm and 42mm sizes. All chisels have had their hoops set at the factory and can be put straight to use - though a quick lick on a medium- or fine-grit waterstone would not go astray.
In our testing we have found that best sharpening results have come from using Sigma waterstones, and adding a microbevel at about 30 degrees gives these chisels their best edge retention.
