The Iwasaki half-round files are amongst the most useful shapes in the range. They are long enough for confident shaping, but compact enough for detailed control.

Performing exceptionally on the hardest timbers ( we tested every model on nthe hardest Australian hardwoods) they feature Iwasaki’s unique spiral tooth pattern and chemically polished teeth, producing clean, precise shavings while leaving an extremely fine finish. The half-round profile gives you one file for both curved shaping and general refinement.

The half-round profile makes them ideal for chair parts, handles, instrument necks, carved curves, rounded edges and concave surfaces. If you only want one professional shaping file for both general work and curved forms, this is a very strong choice.

Chair makers, handle makers, luthiers, carvers, cabinetmakers, fine furniture makers and adventurous woodworkers shaping curves and rounded forms.

Materials Application: All types of wood, bamboo, plastic, resin, gypsum and similar workable materials.

While this item is small, it certainly makes up for that when in use. Rather than having many mini cutting edges like western Rasps, this has a layer of half moon cutting edges each covering the full width of the tool. This allows the Rasp to literally shave the wood from where you want it removed. This allows a greater degree of control and less of an area which needs to be sanded. Great little addition to any Woodworkers kit.

Japanese wood file

Having used dozuki saws for some years while boatbuiding I had a great admiration for their ease and precision but this new saw was a revelation. Puts my expensive English gentlemen's saws into the shade. Not a saw for big work but brilliant for precision guitar and mandolin work.

Excellent tool for fine refining

Recently bought a number of Rentetsu chisels made from 100 year old anchor chain. They are full of character, beautiful pieces of art. But, after tuning, they are also wonderful sharp tools that are an absolute joy to use! Highly recommended.

Great tool - cannot live without it

Have never seen these before, they are like rasps but leave an extremely smooth surface. VERY useful, I plan to buy two more (the round and the half round). Now I would not use them for most of the work, just the finishing, but for that + widening wooden plane mouths etc.. very useful. Highly recommended.

Sublime little tool

When I test used these files at a recent wooden boat show in Sydney, I was astounded by their efficiency and the subsequent finish. A truly remarkable tool with infinite applications! I've bought the standard flat and 1/2 round, give them a try, you wont be disappointed.
