Why woodworkers swear by them

What customers tell us about them, again and again.

Ease of use

Line up. Cut.

No track, no setup, no second-guessing

Hook the guide over your timber, run the saw's base plate along its edge and you're done. Most guides hold in one hand, fold flat for the ute or toolbag, and work with the circular saw you already own.

Precision

±0.1 mm

Accuracy from a measuring company

Shinwa makes rules and squares first. The Next Foldable guides hold squareness to ±0.1 mm per 100 mm, and the T-Slide fences support the saw right to the end of the cut, so every piece comes out the same size.

Build quality

Stainless & aluminium

Built for daily site work

Stainless steel guide faces, rigid aluminium bodies and low-friction UHPE linings that let the saw glide without wearing the edge. Most of the range is made in Japan, and all of it is designed there by Shinwa.

About Shinwa

Made by people who make rulers

Shinwa Rules has made precision rules, squares and measuring tools in Niigata, Japan since 1971, and is an accredited manufacturer under the Japan Calibration Service System. It's the name Japanese carpenters reach for when a measurement has to be right.

Their circular saw guides apply the same standards to cutting: true edges, square fences and materials that hold their accuracy after years of site work.

Best circular saw guide

“Ok you buy a circular saw and they supply it with a bit of stamped tin plate and call it a saw guide. My Makita was no different. I bought this yesterday and used it today cutting up five sheets of 12mm plywood for weatherboards on a shed I'm building. It easily fitted my saw and remained in place to the correct dimension for the whole job. Each piece cut has come out as a uniform size. The rule on this is absolutely spot on as you'd expect anything with the Shinwa brand on it to be.”
Mal M., Sydney · 60cm Foldable Parallel Guide
“One of the best investments I've made on tools this year. Works as described but even easier to use than I expected and useful for most cut lengths over 250mm.”
Todd · 1m Next Foldable Guide

Perfect.

“I have a tracksaw but no parrallel guide kit, this solved my problem and allows me to use my cordless circular saw for 90 deg cuts + any other angle I desire.”
Benjamin B., Sydney · 1m Next Foldable Guide

See Ya later, Speed Square

“This thing replaces a speed square in my tool belt. The base plate of the circ saw slides well against this square guide. Makes cutting sticks a breeze.”
Duncan, Canberra · 15cm 90° Guide

Best circular saw guide

“Best guide I've used, great to have the extra length in the fence.”

Questions

Which guide do I need?

Cutting to length (docking timber, cross-cutting sheets): a square guide. Pick the length that covers your widest stock. Ripping to width: a parallel T-Slide guide. Odd angles: the Free Angle Neo or Adjustable Angle Mini. Not sure? Email us what you're cutting and we'll recommend one.

Will it fit my circular saw?

The square and angle guides work with any handheld circular saw, corded or cordless: the base plate simply runs along the guide's edge. The T-Slide parallel guides slot into your saw's base and need a 12 × 3 mm guide slot, which most saws have. A few cordless saws with very thick base plates don't sit well on the Next Foldable range, so if you're unsure, send us your saw model and we'll confirm.

What does the guide slider do?

The slider fits the groove on the Next Foldable guides and keeps your saw riding against the guide, so the base plate can't drift away from the edge mid-cut. It makes repeat cuts faster and is our most-added accessory.

Is it worth it over the guide that came with my saw?

The stamped fence supplied with most saws flexes and wanders. Shinwa guides are rigid aluminium and stainless steel, built by a company that makes precision rules and squares, so your cut follows the line you marked.
