Most bits tear the fibres as they go. STAR-M bits cut them in three steps instead.

A pin dead in the centre
The centre pin is precision milled perfectly in the middle of the bit, so every hole starts exactly where you mark it and stays centred.

Spurs and wings
Hooked spurs score and clear the perimeter of the cut, then semi-circular wings incise a little deeper to part the waste from the surrounding timber.

A curved cutting edge
A curved edge planes the waste out and sends it up the knife-like flutes, giving clean entry and exit holes across the grain and with it.

How does the saving work?
Mix any sizes you like. 5 or more bits in your cart and every bit is 10% off; 10 or more and it's 15% off. It's applied automatically at checkout. The roll bag and depth stoppers are full price.
Should I buy a fixed set or build my own?
Our fixed sets come with the 15-pocket roll bag. Building your own lets you choose exact sizes and quantities, and at 10 or more bits the 15% saving beats the fixed sets. Add the roll bag if you want somewhere to keep them.
What can I drill with them?
They're designed for soft materials that can otherwise be problematic to drill: softwood, hardwood, rubber, acrylic and PVC, and they cut cleanly even in fibrous materials like bamboo.
What speed should I use?
Use a low speed for plastics and your highest speed for fibrous materials. In both cases, introduce the bit to the material gradually.
Do the depth stoppers work with these bits?
Yes. The stoppers have ball bearings so they stop spinning when they touch the work and won't mark it. Because these bits have a short body, the maximum depth you can set with a stopper is about 10–12mm.
