Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm
Location: JTA Workshop, 29 Production Ave, Kogarah NSW 2217
Discover the beauty and precision of Kumiko, the traditional Japanese art of assembling intricate geometric patterns without the use of nails or glue. Renowned for its attention to detail and timeless elegance, Kumiko is a rewarding craft that combines patience, accuracy and creativity.
We're excited to welcome Jason from Wigwood back to JTA to lead this hands-on workshop, where you'll create your own Asa-no-Ha (Hemp Leaf) Kumiko coaster.
Jason's clear and encouraging teaching style makes this workshop suitable for both complete beginners and those looking to build on their skills, with the Asa-no-Ha pattern being an ideal introduction to Kumiko.
Throughout the day, you'll learn how to accurately cut a small shoji frame and master the three precise angles required to create the striking hemp leaf pattern. By the end of the workshop, you'll have completed your own coaster and gained the confidence and knowledge to continue exploring Kumiko at home.
All tools and materials are supplied, all you need to bring is yourself and a willingness to learn something new.
A light lunch and refreshments are included, making for a relaxed and enjoyable day of learning, craftsmanship and great company.
JTA Class Cancellation Policy
JTA Class Cancellation Policy
A huge part of designing our showroom - JTA HQ in Kogarah, was with the intention to create a beautiful workshop space. And over the years we have been lucky enough to host some incredibly talented local and international teachers.
Classes are often limited in number, meaning they do often sell out quickly. We encourage you to leave your email for an automated notification if any additional spaces become available or please feel free to contact us directly on info@japanesetools.com.au.
We understand circumstances sometimes change and if you need to cancel a booked spot we will offer a no questions asked refund 14 days prior to the class date. Any time closer to the class date, we will have to fill the spot first before offering a refund.
If you simply forget the class date or are a no show on the day, we cannot offer a refund or credit.
As we are hosting the classes for our teachers – Tools Bucks cannot be used towards the classes, and although some teachers may offer a discount on multi-day courses, this is not a general rule across all classes.
We can't wait to welcome you into our space to learn a new skill and craft. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on 02)95273870.
