Description

These handcrafted timber buckets by Koichi Miyazaki are the perfect sharpening sink for use with Japanese waterstones. Each bucket is handmade from old growth Japanese timber includes a timber sink bridge and held fast with brass straps.

Traditional crafts in Japan are a beautiful but delicate thing. Our business relies on skills that, once plentiful, are increasingly the domain of a group of people that grows smaller (and older) with each season.

Christian was lucky enough on a trip to Japan in 2020 to meet and spend time with a young craftsperson who has struck out to rediscover a trade, revive it in their own work, and strives to teach and develop these skills in other people. The video attached documents the 10 days Christian spent with Koichi Miyazaki, a young cooper on Goto Island.

Dimensions:

Dia: 495mm
Height: 150mm
Wall thickness: 16mm
