Description

We think this is it - the most versatile, easy-to-use square we have yet come across.

The Hiropita square by Shinwa takes our favourite things about the traditional Japanese sashigane and adapts them to a slightly larger form factor.

These squares are flexible, and can be used like a sashigane by using that flexibility to reference the edges of your work, lay out a fair curve, measure slightly uneven surfaces, or lay out in the middle of a board.

These squares do differ from sashigane in a couple of important ways.

The first is that they are 20mm wide, as opposed the the traditional 15mm.

Importantly, this extra width allows them to carry measurement scales for both the inside and the outside of the arms. This means that, no matter whether you are using the inside or outside of the square to find your reference face, you will always have a millimetre scale to read and mark off.

This is the case on both the front of the back of the square, meaning that no matter what hand you are holding it in, which arm you are working off or which face you are referencing, you always have a whole-millimeter scale ready to be used with out any calculation or subtraction to allow for the width of the square.

This square is machined from 1mm-thick stainless steel and is to JIS standards.
