Super Clean Cut Drill Bits by STAR-M

I've got a large collection of Star-M brad point bits from JTA. They are best suited to a drill press where you can get the full benefit of their precision.

Before using them for the first time I was a little skepticsl of the 1/4" hex fitting but my concerns have been fully allayed in use. They are just as accurate and well centred as a conventional round shaft.

The holes they cut are incredibly accurate to the nominated size with the bits having negligible runout.

The point tips are very well centred and sharp, making lining up a hole with a mark on your wood really easy. The cuts are exceptionally clean on both entry and exit due to the slicing action of the outer edge of the bit spirals before the bulk of the wood is removed by the rest of the bit face.

Another upside to these bits arises if you need to drill many holes of varying diameters in quick succession. All the bits up to 12mm are the same length and those from 13-19 are too. This makes table height adjustments on a drill press much less frequent whilst maintaining the workpiece an optimum distance from the drill bit. This is partularly useful if you're drilling blind holes with depth stops.

Overall I am very happy with these drill bits and highly recommend them for precision work.

I need a really sharp drill bit for drilling tuner holes in highly figured exotic timber without the chance of tear out, this bit is perfect, I’ll definitely be buying more. ⭐️

We use a lot of plywood and find these drills perfect for cutting plug holes also we cut long end grain holes and this drill works better than anything else we have tried.

These are beautiful bits to use. I am currently working a project requiring clean and very accurate holes. These bits really do the job. The brad point is easy to position accurately and tracks precisely. The very sharp cutting surface make a very clean hole with very little breakout. The bits are a bit shorter than you might expect, but this has not yet been a problem in my project.

Best cutting drill ever. Never before seen holes as clean.

Admittedly this purchase was higher quality and price than many of my tools, but the results were excellent. My project required 40 holes to be drilled in plywood and I was aiming for good presentation. The plywood was very prone to splintering, but this drill cut extremely cleanly. The flutes really are knife-like.
