WHEN: Monday 22nd June | 9am - 4pm
WHERE: JTA Showroom - 29 Production Ave, Kogarah 2217
This class explores design and modelling concepts for wood carving through sketching, play, and creative exploration.
Students will experiment with shape, texture, pattern, and form while developing ideas from simple drawings into three-dimensional carved and assembled works.
Using softer timbers suited to beginner carving and marquetry making, participants will learn
techniques for cutting, layering, and decorative detailing with an emphasis on experimentation and hands-on discovery.
The course encourages curiosity, material exploration, and confidence in developing personal creative styles through playful making processes. This is a element often overlooked by carvers who can get into a pattern of copying designs they have learnt in a class or seen another carvers create.Unlock your own unique creations by learning this modelling process that will allow you to broaden your artistry.
Your guide on the day is Greg Hehir of Melbourne Carving School, owner of Carving and Turning Timber Sales, who has an in-depth knowledge of carving techniques, tools and timbers.
All materials and tools are supplied for the duration of the class.
Tea, coffee & lunch also provided.
