Precision Squares

These squares are beautifully machined from S50C carbon tool steel. They are shipped from the factory with a protective layer of oil applied. While this needs to be removed before use, we recommend storing the squares in its box or in a location where it can't accumulate dust. If left unprotected for long periods of time, these squares may be susceptible to rust (though none of ours have yet been affected in our workshop).

These squares are precision tools manufactured by Shinwa to specific tolerances. If it should not meet these tolerances, it is covered by a factory warranty. Please note that rough handling or dropping of the tool would void this warranty.

50mm

Long Arm: 50 x 14 x 2mm | Base: 40 x 12 x 7mm

This model's tolerance to square is +/-7μm along its blade. 

We have found this small square excellent in the checking of small components. It is equally at home in the shop of a woodworker or engineer.

75mm

Long Arm: 75 x 14 x 2mm | Base: 50 x 12 x 7mm

This model's tolerance to square is +/-9.5μm along its blade. 

We have found this small square excellent in the checking of small components and marking out joinery. It is equally at home in the shop of a woodworker or engineer.

100mm

Long Arm: 100 x 20 x 2mm | Base: 70 x 17 x 14mm

We have found this small square excellent in the checking of small components, though its weight makes it less suitable to use as a general woodworking square than other Shinwa try-squares. It is excellent for the setting of fences and guides.

This model's tolerance to square is +/-12μm along its blade. 

150mm

Long Arm: 150 x 24 x 3mm | Base: 100 x 21 x 17mm

This model's tolerance to square is +/-12μm along its blade. 

We have found this small square excellent for the setting and checking of machinery fences and blades, and as a master square which can be used to check other squares against in the shop. Its weight makes it impractical for every-day use as a woodworking try square, though its heavy base helps it to stand upright easily for use with flat reference planes. 

200mm

Long Arm: 200 x 29 x 4mm | Base: 130 x 24 x 20mm

This model's tolerance to square is +/-22μm along its blade.
