Description

'Ryoba' is the Japanese word for double edge. The double sided Gikoh Ryoba pull Saw made by Kakuri lives up to its name. It's a double sided blade and features one side for ripping and the other side for crosscutting. The comfortable rattan handle features quick leaver action to change the replaceable blades.

You will not find a better designed handle on the market. The mechanism to hold the blade is unique in that it is streamlined to eliminate any change of the latch getting in the way of your material. Unlike some other saws on the market, the Kakuri Ryoba's Latch will always keep your blade straight and secure. The blade cuts easily and straight on both sides in many types of timber.

Perfect Beginner's (and advanced) tool

Absolutely love it! My Ryoba is my favourite tool now.

Incredibly light and so easy to use, it feels like I'm cutting through butter, and the precision and finish of the cuts are AMAZING! I only wish I had bought this much earlier. I'm never going back to conventional western saws again!

I can't compare it to any other models or brands (it is my very first one ever), but the quality of this saw is impressive, and the handle is so light that at first I though it was potentially a problem (it felt almost like a kid's toy). However as I used it for the very first time all my concerns disappeared and I fell instantly in love with it.
I don't even feel the need to sand my pieces after cutting them (of course I still do, but sometimes it is almost more out of the habit than the absolute need - to be honest).
On top of it all it disassembles in one second and the saw goes back into its protective case, and it fits in a very small drawer in my living room! I could not go back to not having it!
I'd give it 20 stars if possible!!!!!

Brilliant smooth cuts

Cuts quickly in plywood and gives a great edge, no sanding required for cleanup. Takes some practice to get a square edge, but easy to cut in a straight line and feels much more natural than a push saw

Replace your Ryoba blades regularly

This Ryoba is top notch. Super versatile and is my preferred saw for resawing with minimal waste.
Ryobas of this kind are intended to have the blades replaced regularly if you use it frequently and for heavy work like resawing Aussie timbers. Replacing the blade makes the saw work like new again and you ask yourself why you didn't do it sooner.
The old blade is still useful, as a back up or to cut it up for shop made scrapers or scratch stock.
Replacement blades are cheap, and Japanese Tools were quick with postage. Five stars
