Carving File - Half Round - 100mm

Regular price $42.00

Description

Small enough for detail, shaped for curves?

This Iwasaki is a compact 100 mm half-round carving file designed for controlled shaping on small curves, rounded edges, concave surfaces and fine detail work.

Performing exceptionally on the hardest timbers ( we tested every model on the hardest Australian hardwoods) It features Iwasaki’s unique spiral tooth pattern and chemically polished teeth, allowing the file to cut smoothly with light pressure while producing clean, precise shavings and a very fine finish.

The half-round shape makes this file especially versatile. Use the curved face for internal radiuses, grooves and rounded forms.

Recommended for:

Carvers, cabinetmakers, luthiers, model makers, instrument makers and woodworkers who need a compact file for precise curve shaping and clean finishing work.

Materials Application: All types of wood, bamboo, plastic, resin, gypsum and similar workable materials.

Butt Cracks

I bought this little half round wood file to do the finishing touches to the stringer on my fish surfboards. The delicate final touches of tidying up the stringer end in the butt crack of the tail.A narrow piece of wood in a tight spot surrounded on both sides by soft foam. One slip and it is all over and will show up under the glass job. This is the tool that does the job the best by far. Thanks.

Small but effective

I've only had a chance to test it out on a small piece of Aussie buloke (hardest word in the world) and it just effortlessly removes excess timber.
I find it leaves a slightly rougher finish than the shinto rasp (fine) but is much better suited to the more intricate shaping.

A Heirloom tool

I bought one of these from StewMac 15 years ago when i was making musical instruments. Still using it to make model boats.
It has rasped mahogany to shaving ebony to shiny finish.
Still it stays sharp.

Used it yesterday with my grandson to carve a turtle out of soap.
What a good day it was.
