At JTA we are proud of our order turnaround times and work hard to ensure the best possible service.

We are NOT a drop-shipping company and hold all of our stock in Sydney. We dispatch every weekday, and we are usually able to dispatch orders received before 12pm on the same day. If you urgently require your purchase we suggest that you select express shipping at checkout to ensure we prioritise your parcel.

Shipping Charges:

We have revised our logistics systems to offer the best possible postage price to our customers. All prices are in $AUD.

Within Australia:

Regular Post: $9.50, tracking number emailed to you at dispatch

Express Post: $16.50, tracking number emailed to you at dispatch

Within New Zealand:

We are now able to offer our New Zealand customers $15 flat-rate shipping on orders under 2kg.  For orders heavier than 2kg the following rates apply:

<2kg: $15

3kg: $24

4kg: $28

5kg: $32

Express Courier International:

Flat Rate - AU$30 on orders up to 2kg (4.4lbs)

For orders over this weight:

<4kg: $63.40

<5kg: $70.75

For orders over 5kg in weight, please email us at info@japanesetools.com.au

Prices for all other international orders are calculated at checkout according to Australia Post’s standard rates.

Please be aware some international countries may charge additional taxes when your order goes through customs. Prices on the JTA website do not include these charges and it is the customer's responsibility to cover this.

Delivery Times inside Australia:

These are estimates only. All orders are sent with a tracking code via our shipping app Shippit, and we recommend you use this to check on your order's progress.

From the date of dispatch we expect the following delivery times within Australia:

Regular Post: Within 3-5 business days (metro areas) or 4-8 business days (rural areas)

Express Post: 1-2 business days (metro areas) or 2-4 business days (rural areas)

Plastic-free Policy:

Japanese Tools Australia is an environmentally conscious company and we endeavour to eliminate plastics in as many parts of our business as possible. Your purchase will be shipped in recyclable non-plastic materials, and we re-use cardboard and paper wherever possible in our shipping process.

Exceptions to plastic-free policy:

Unfortunately, we are required to dispatch some express items in pre-paid satchels and in such circumstances we have no choice but to use a plastic satchel. Please keep in mind these satchels are 100% recyclable. Our suppliers also use plastic in their packaging of some products, and we do not remove these protective measures before shipping. We are considering strategies to eliminate these two remaining sources of plastic in our shipping process. As many of our items are hand-made, they do not arrive to us or to you with extraneous packaging, though this is not the case for all of our products.

Breakage in shipping policy:

We pack our shipments in specialised materials to ensure that our customers find them in the same condition that we send them. If you receive your products in a damaged condition, please email info@japanesetools.com.au with your order number and photos of the condition of the products within a week of collection. If an item is deemed to have been damaged in transit we will replace it with like kind at no extra shipping cost to the customer.

If you are unhappy with the condition of your product and it has not been damaged in transit, please refer to our returns and exchanges policy.

Description

The Shapton Professional #2000 waterstone is a medium grit waterstone that brings up a useable edge. The #2000 is finer than it's #1000 companion in the Shapton Professional range, and gives a slightly finer finish.

As with the rest of the Shapton Professional range, the #2000 is manufactured to maintain flatness for a relatively long time. For best results, we recommend regular light flattening of the stone with either a diamond plate or sandpaper on glass.

The #2000 stone can be reached directly from the #320 grit Shapton Professional stone, though the #1000 can be included to make each step quite quick. From the #2000, both the #5000 and #8000 are reachable jumps.

Details:

  • Stone size: 210mm x 70mm x 16mm

Ease of use

Used a flattener on stone before first use, super smooth. Cutting isn't as good as shapton 1k but the sharpening experience feels a lot better. Easily reaches hair shaving sharpness and I can do "horizontal flicks" when dicing a large onion with the tip of my knife super easily without feeling like im trying to force the tip through.

Good for razors

I was in the market for a 2K stone for a while, as something "easier on the steel" (than my usual Naniwa Chosera 1K). Razors that don't require hard work (chip removal, geometry correction etc..) will benefit from this stone. It's easy to work with, doesn't clog too much, it's hard, and keeps its flat. Don't forget to flatten the surface before using on precision instruments. Service from the JTA was stellar.

Shapton Pro 2000 grit

I bought this stone for sharpening kitchen and outdoor knives. The harder ceramic stones are ideal as they won't gouge like the softer traditional water stones. The shapton stones are the best I've used in the last 20 years.
