This is a brilliant toolbox. Am using it to store all my whittling tools and honing stuff. Knives from Sweden & Japan. I purchased the red one as it brightens my day each time I use it. Fantastic.

These are design classics for a reason, they are quite simply a textbook example of the beauty of form meeting function.
Function:
I was a little concerned they might be heavy even when empty, but they somehow manage not to be, without compromising build quality in any way. The centred handles also distribute the weight in a way that feels ergonomically and mechanically sound.
These are going to last forever. Unlike every metal toolbox I’ve seen or bought elsewhere (whatever the price), the folding mechanism is smooth and silent out of the box. Sure, you can “just” oil the others, but you shouldn’t need to until it’s been used for some time - years, even - because creaking isn’t just an annoying sound, it’s metal being fatigued. Other boxes will likely have failed in those creaking places before the Toyos show any such signs, even Toyos that aren’t maintained well.
Form:
The attention to detail shows even here. It seems a simple thing to choose to make the white colour way (beautifully, minimalistically) matte, when others are gloss, but it’s an extra cost in manufacturing most companies wouldn’t consider, even at this price point.

I love quality, things made to last that work well, and these toolboxes are just that. So, when I say it is the first and last one, I buy it is because it will last and serve its purpose for a long time to come... Oh I will buy more as the need arises of course. This is quality and at a very good price and from a very good retailer who has never disappointed me with the products that they sell.

I recently purchased not just this blue box but two other smaller ones as a package to give as a present to one of my sons. I was very impressed with the quality and appearance of these items, and so was my son. They are so good to behold and a pleasure to use that I fear one or two boxes might be appropriated by my daughter-in-law, who sees an additional use for them to store items for her sewing work!
