Kumiko Coasters Workshop

$295.00

Description

Dates: Saturday 21st June
Time: 9am to 4pm
Place: JTA Workshop - 29 Production Av, Kogarah NSW 2217

Kumiko is a craft borne of dedication to detail that also requires the craftsperson the think of it's overall effect on a space. Join us in this workshop to explore the world of kumiko.

JTA are proud to host Jason from Wigwood to run his class making coasters with the asa-no-ha (hemp leaf) kumiko pattern. Jason's first visit was to deliver this class to the JTA team, and we can confirm that it was a blast! It was enjoyed equally by those of us who had never picked up a saw as well as those who have tried their hand at kumiko previously. We all finished the class proud of our creations, with great results achievable under Jason's tutelage.

The asa-no-ha technique is a great introduction to kumiko as it requires the accurate cutting of three different angles for the infill pieces, as well as the accurate cutting of a small shoji frame. Students can be expected to be taken through all of the steps to complete a single coaster, and leave with the knowledge to make more.

All tools and materials are provided for the session - all participants are required to bring are themselves and a readiness to give kumiko a red hot go. If you would like to bring your own tools you are more than welcome to, however please ensure that they are sharp and ready to go, as we will be getting straight into it.

Session also includes tea, coffee and a light lunch.

JTA Class Cancellation Policy

A huge part of designing our showroom - JTA HQ in Kogarah, was with the intention to create a beautiful workshop space. And over the years we have been lucky enough to host some incredibly talented local and international teachers.

Classes are often limited in number, meaning they do often sell out quickly. We encourage you to leave your email for an automated notification if any additional spaces become available or please feel free to contact us directly on info@japanesetools.com.au.

We understand circumstances sometimes change and if you need to cancel a booked spot we will offer a no questions asked refund 14 days prior to the class date. Any time closer to the class date, we will have to fill the spot first before offering a refund.

If you simply forget the class date or are a no show on the day, we cannot offer a refund or credit.

As we are hosting the classes for our teachers – Tools Bucks cannot be used towards the classes, and although some teachers may offer a discount on multi-day courses, this is not a general rule across all classes.

We can't wait to welcome you into our space to learn a new skill and craft. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on 02)95273870.

A Completely Worthwhile and Satisfying Activity

It was a perfect way to spend a day. Expert tuition no matter what your own personal level of experience, great outcome achieved by all participants - certainly for me and from what I observed for everyone else. Great access to all materials to continue Kumiko post the course. Unreserved recommendation to all to take this course yourself.
