Description

Shapton glass stones are known for their exceptional quality, durability, and ease of use. Made with finely graded ceramic cutting media that requires less flattening and lasts 4-5 times longer than most water stones.

Each stone is composed of a 5mm tempered glass backing plate fused to a 5mm thick stone. The abrasives are extremely uniform, meaning the abrasive encountered with the first pass of a blade will be the same as the 5000th pass.

The Shapton Glass Stone #1000HR grit gives straight razors an extremely sharp edge.

With a 14.7 micron particle size, this stone is deal for removing micro-chips, small dents and corrosion. Used in the first phase of the honing process, it can also be excellent for perfecting the bevel.

This is a 'splash and go' style of stone so soaking is not required. Before use, spray the Glass Stone with water, or dampen with a clean wet cloth and begin sharpening (you sharpen on the ceramic side, not the glass). Use extremely light, even pressure and lead with the cutting edge. As with all water hones Shapton Glass Stones do wear concave with use and require periodic lapping (flattening).

Allow to air dry in indirect sun prior to storing the stone.

Model: 50202
Size: 70mm x 210mm
Made in: Japan
