This beautiful smoothing plane is a traditional Japanese style plane which cuts on the pull stroke.
The blue paper steel blade and chip breaker are held in place by compression and can be adjusted with a Japanese hammer or wooden mallet. The plane's body is made of Japanese White Oak.
In general, traditional Japanese planes require maintenance to the sole. This plane has been relieved behind the blade and is ready to use. It does not require tuning to the sole of the plane. Some tuning to the supporting timber around the blade may be require before first use.
