We are NOT a drop-shipping company and hold all of our stock in Sydney. We dispatch every weekday, and we are usually able to dispatch orders received before 12pm on the same day. If you urgently require your purchase we suggest that you select express shipping at checkout to ensure we prioritise your parcel.

We have revised our logistics systems to offer the best possible postage price to our customers. All prices are in $AUD.
Within Australia:
Regular Post: $9.50, tracking number emailed to you at dispatch

Within New Zealand:
We are now able to offer our New Zealand customers $15 flat-rate shipping on orders under 2kg. For orders heavier than 2kg the following rates apply:

Delivery Times inside Australia:
These are estimates only. All orders are sent with a tracking code via our shipping app Shippit, and we recommend you use this to check on your order's progress.
From the date of dispatch we expect the following delivery times within Australia:

Plastic-free Policy:
Japanese Tools Australia is an environmentally conscious company and we endeavour to eliminate plastics in as many parts of our business as possible. Your purchase will be shipped in recyclable non-plastic materials, and we re-use cardboard and paper wherever possible in our shipping process.
Exceptions to plastic-free policy:
Unfortunately, we are required to dispatch some express items in pre-paid satchels and in such circumstances we have no choice but to use a plastic satchel. Please keep in mind these satchels are 100% recyclable. Our suppliers also use plastic in their packaging of some products, and we do not remove these protective measures before shipping. We are considering strategies to eliminate these two remaining sources of plastic in our shipping process. As many of our items are hand-made, they do not arrive to us or to you with extraneous packaging, though this is not the case for all of our products.
Breakage in shipping policy:
We pack our shipments in specialised materials to ensure that our customers find them in the same condition that we send them. If you receive your products in a damaged condition, please email info@japanesetools.com.au with your order number and photos of the condition of the products within a week of collection. If an item is deemed to have been damaged in transit we will replace it with like kind at no extra shipping cost to the customer.If you are unhappy with the condition of your product and it has not been damaged in transit, please refer to our returns and exchanges policy.

- Full-size Glass Plate 280mm x 225mm x 10mm - sized to take a complete sheet of abrasive.
- Adhesive-Backed Abrasive Sheets (P120 and P240)
- 225g Genno Hammer
- Bottle of Camellia Oil (rust protection for plane and chisel blades)
This kit is centred around our 58mm Japanese plane with high-quality high carbon steel blade and also includes the basic tools required to tune it before use. The 58mm blade offers a bevel with a large surface area and plenty of metal to hold on to, making it an excellent and accessible size for freehand sharpening. It's width makes it extremely versatile in the workshop, and it can be tuned as either a smoothing or jointing plane depending on the choices made by the user when setting up the sole of the plane.
To sharpen the blade we are including our best selling Cerax combination stone in its 1000/6000 configuration, and the glass plate and adhesive sandpaper that can be used to flatten it before it is submerged for sharpening. The full sized glass plate and adhesive backed sandpaper is also used for tuning the sole of the plane as it is a known flat surface.
To bed the blade properly we include our 15mm hybrid chisel, which can also be sharpened with the Cerax stone and is capable of producing exceptionally clean cuts. Aside from being useful in the tuning process, it also makes an excellent addition to any woodworker's toolbox.
To adjust the blade in and out of the body we also provide our well-made and balanced 225g hammer. As the blade is susceptible to rust, we suggest it be regularly coated with a light layer of the camellia oil we have also added to the kit.
