Unlike traditional water stones, Atoma diamond plates remain flat, require minimal maintenance, and offer outstanding durability.
Ideal for knife sharpening, chisel and plane blade sharpening, stone flattening, and edge repair, Atoma diamond plates are available in a range of grits to support everything from aggressive stock removal to fine edge refinement. Their reliability and precision make them an essential tool for both professional sharpeners and serious home users.

Atoma Diamond Sheet - #140
Atoma Diamond Sheet - #140
These Atoma Diamond Sheets are identical to the abrasive surfaces used in our Atoma diamond plates—offering the same fast, hard-wearing cutting performance—only without the fixed aluminium substrate.
Supplied with a waterproof adhesive backing, these sheets can be applied to the flat substrate of your choice, making them ideal for those replacing a worn sheet or building a custom sharpening setup.
To make things easier, we've sourced two substrates that pair beautifully with the diamond sheets:
1. Glass Substrate
Chosen for its consistent flatness, our 10mm glass backing turns your diamond sheet into a lightweight, low-profile flattening plate with minimal variation. Especially well-suited for flattening waterstones, the glass option can be double-sided, allowing you to mount different grits on each face. Once adhered, it performs like a full diamond plate with excellent accuracy.
2. Steel Substrate
This heavy 16mm mild steel plate was developed in response to customer requests for a flat, weighty base suitable for serious grinding. Machined to within 0.005mm flatness, it’s ideal for metalworking applications and sharpening workflows that require more heft. Designed to be clamped in a vice or used benchtop with waterstones passed over the surface, it can also host two different grits—one on each side—or double as a traditional lapping plate.
Please note: Each item is sold individually. To build a complete setup, please add your preferred diamond sheet and substrate (glass or steel) to your cart separately. We’ll ship them individually, and you’ll need to adhere the sheet to your chosen base at home.
