Kamiwaza tools are made in Sanjō, Niigata, one of Japan's oldest and most respected blacksmithing towns. The name means "divine technique", and the range brings traditional Japanese tool-making within reach of woodworkers who are new to Japanese tools.
Kamiwaza bench chisels use White Paper Steel #2 for a keen, easily sharpened edge, with Japanese red oak handles and hoops that come pre-fitted, so they are ready to set up and use straight away. The range also includes kanna planes and spokeshaves with Blue Paper Steel blades. They make a great first set for beginners and a dependable workshop choice for intermediate woodworkers.

A superlative plane in every sense, this kanna arrives to it's new owner set from the factory, with much less fettling required of it than most other Japanese planes.
The blade is made from Super Blue Paper Steel, or Aogami-Super, which is prized for it's superlative edge retention and wonderful cutting properties.
The block has been treated by being immersed in oil by the maker, allowing all the pores of the dai to be filled with oil and excluding air from the timber. This makes for a very stable block with a rich gold colour and beautiful aroma besides.
Finally, the beautiful cedar shaving pictured with the plane has been taken by this exact kanna at the factory as proof of it's quality and work-readiness.
