A superlative plane in every sense, this kanna arrives to it's new owner set from the factory, with much less fettling required of it than most other Japanese planes.
The blade is made from Super Blue Paper Steel, or Aogami-Super, which is prized for it's superlative edge retention and wonderful cutting properties.
The block has been treated by being immersed in oil by the maker, allowing all the pores of the dai to be filled with oil and excluding air from the timber. This makes for a very stable block with a rich gold colour and beautiful aroma besides.
Finally, the beautiful cedar shaving pictured with the plane has been taken by this exact kanna at the factory as proof of it's quality and work-readiness.
